Five and a half years after the death of reporter Didier Contant, journalist Jean-Baptiste Rivoire was sentenced by Paris court Head of deliberate violence against the person in Didier Contant. This case
between journalists may not have chosen so far all the attention it deserves yet this strange case, which goes far beyond a mere professional rivalry:
Contant Rivoire and investigating both the death, in 1996, monks of Tibhirine.
In January 2004, Didier Contant, who had issued a first subject in Le Figaro Magazine, was preparing to move to a new weekly article totally contradicts the thesis Rivoire. During his last investigation, the reporter had found new witnesses claiming that the monks had been murdered by the GIA and he had gathered evidence casting doubt about the credibility of Abdelkader Tigha. However, the investigation of Rivoire was largely based on statements of this NCO deserter from the Algerian army, which involved the latter in the murder of the monks.
Revelations Tigha to have been widely exploited by a number of people with a keen interest in the situation in Algeria and condemn without qualification, for several years, the instrumentalization of Islamist terrorism by the Algerian government.
the intent to prevent further publication of his colleague, Jean-Baptiste Rivoire contacted the editors in Paris claiming to reliable sources, to accuse, neither more nor less, Didier Contant be an officer Algerian and French intelligence.
Numerous journalists, fact witnesses, heard by the magistrate confirmed the reality of the accusations made by Rivoire, and the extremely serious nature of such a maneuver which condemns the person to a total loss of credit and at his death ... professional
Didier Contant could not bear to be so maligned and involved in his professional integrity.
Four years ago, Rina Sherman's companion Contant complained and claimed damages. She has since recounted his own investigation in a book entitled "The eighth death Tibhirine" * and in a film, "Paris of my exile."
Information court has now fully confirmed the allegations against Jean-Baptiste Rivoire.
